Hello boys, girls, birls, and goys.

My caffeine-addicted lumplings, be still and listen.

..

.. do you hear that? It's the sound of MAGIC!

Metroid Online is back, as you very well may know, or do know, or don't know, or can't know? It's back. Deal with it. So anyways, like I was saying, we are back in production, but there is one thing missing: You guys. The forumgoers, the ones that have been following this crazy dream of mine since well, a very long time, and are still here!

What I need is some feeeeeeeeeeeeeedbaaaaaaaaack *ahem* I need some feedback on the mod. What did you like from before, what did you want to change, what did you want to see more of, less of, and what do you really want to see of what we are working on right now? We have stuffs we are doing, but I'm really unsure of how to show it off. Do you want movie-montages like I used to produce? Pictures? Me standing next to a computer monitor, wearing a hockey mask, pointing a Slim Jim™ at a monitor that is displaying new content? WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!

...

Yeah, so what do you want to see? The stage is set, the curtains are about to roll back, what are you expecting to see when the play begins?

Also, in case you didn't see it yet, we are changing the website to act like more of a feedback-centric blog. More on that when it's updated.

Thanks for your time, and if I don't see ya', good afternoon, good evening, and good night!
-Seraphim

i like that idea.

and i know that you always have trouble but i also would like your team to attempt to get morphball in. Nebulon did it in his TallonIV although the power bombs were a bit well they need to be worked on and also i dont mind if the bombs are in or not i would at least be able to "cruze" (roll) around in a heated battle or it would make race mods a bit more fun. i also really like the content in most of your old vids of some never released maps and the content in your original TallonIV and thats pretty much whay i loved about the team. although i didnt really give very much feed back in the past but now i might become the number one feddback spokes person XD as always peace and good luck

I don't foresee the morphball coming back. Sorry. It just wasn't meant to be. It could be included, but it will be nearly unusable.
Kirby can feel free to prove me wrong, but from what I recall him saying, it isn't happening in this lifetime.

then i guess i must wait for many lifetimes to pass :)
i am half pleased even if it would look like a big rock that drags on the ground with a morphball skin on it but i completely accept your decision on the morphball.

No metroid game without Morphball. I'm sure there's something that can be done.

There is, you can not play it if you chose not to. This isn't a Metroid game, it's a Metroid mod.
As much as I originally wanted the morphball in the mod, I sorta don't foresee it working, mainly because you'll be able to get out of it in the morphball "tunnels" and jump right through the bsp (level) into the skybox (fall forever).

If Kirby can get it working with all the problems associated with it alleviated, more power to him. I don't see it working at all. Hence, this is the reason I've said it.. I dunno... probably more than 50 times now.

That's an issue indeed. Isn't there a possibility to disable the unmorphing inside of tunnels e.g. add a trigger/tool brush (whatever halo is using) in which the player cannot use the morph/unmorph command and cover the tunnels with it.

Or just not have tunnels at all. While they are a big part of the morphball system, I'd still have fun roaming around the normal map as a ball.

i agree with ombre. but also cant you make the tunnels big enough tto crouch in or make a script that kills you after a certain distance of falling as in coldsnap. you cant die from a 500mile drop to the ground but when you get into the pit after your so far deep you die. i guess what im trying to say is a kill script that kills you via suicide or gaudians when your exit the bsp some how. and during morphball tests in the past have you gotten the chance to see how well they sync online?

They don't sync online. That is the reason we didn't use the original implementation (we had them in-game, they just didn't sync).

More or less, since we cannot have morph balls maybe we can have some pirate tech lying about? I mean in the metroid series there was pirate technology scattered around the levels and they did use it from time to time against samus aran.

hell, maybe a turret or something that can be used around the map (possibly a remote terminal system instead of the mount and fire?)

Also, i loved the maps... I loved searching for the glitches and exploits to them and posting them online for seraphim and his team... HELL I WANT TO GET BACK INTO THE MOD BADLY!!!!

It beats having my butt hacked in the Nintendo DS Lite version of Metroid Hunters (god that game was The mass HORRIBLE of the whole series)

if you need some map alpha testing or whatever, im here for you to use at your disposal (though im not skilled in halos map editor i can sketch up areas to scale and even get some ingame screen shots of Metroid prime locations for you to use as refences)

Looking forward to joining the EMT incase metroid online needs CPR and more players :D

Glad to see you decided to breath life back into this game seraphim (and the rest of the MO team)

Sonic told me there is a new feature in Xfire that allows users to watch players as they play. We may use this during tests so everyone gets a chance to watch, and can even see what we do while testing out our maps.

Maridia is now in-game and Teh Lag has been working on it to get it looking good. I mainly just organized the tags between what Kirby sent me the other day for the Gravity Boost and the tags from the Maridia build I was sent, and will probably be doing so until I get my Desktop up and running (Est. Delivery of my Power Supply is Friday).

In the meantime, we were planning on doing some preliminary tests, just to see how gameplay functions, so it won't require testers just yet. I'm hoping to do at least one test tonight with the updated build, and hopefully Sonic can participate so we can get some video to you. I am going to hold off on using that Xfire viewing thing until we get some people willing to watch it back to the site/forums.

The next update should be on the front page of the site, but Phil set it up to automatically post any of that here as well.

I don't like RC1. Thought it was ok, but the gameplay just doesn't feel right.
You'll have a blast in this new map though, it takes a little time to get used to the skill involved in the timing of the Gravity Boost, but once you figure it out, you'll be using it as if it were a double-jump.

Testing didn't happen last night. My tagset is FUBAR right now, and should be rectified by this evening. I'll try to ensure there is at least an in-game screen or third-person shot or something to make up for it.

Also, for anyone that didn't catch the easter egg that I hid in both the front page update "Chozo-a-go-go" and the forum thread on here, here's a picture of Kirby testing out the Gravity Boost in Phendrana:
