Using Ce Tags in halo pc v1

Ok, follow these steps and you should now have Halo CE weapons, vehicles, bipeds, ect in your Halo PC maps!

Test map-Bloodgulch duh
Test ce map- xxxvalhallaxxx

1. Open up Eschaton .8.1

2. Open and expand Bloodgulch

3. Open xxxvalhallaxxx, not expand

4. In Valhalla click use the find tool (ctrl f) to find for example the h2 wraith

5. Double click on the tag that shows up named vehicle h2 wraith not mod2.

6. In the file menu click recursively extract and click continue

7. Go back into bloodgulch and click import tags(clearly visible when you first open it)

8. Make sure that the h2 wraith tab is selected when this is done

9. Optional: click internalize and select both the bitmaps and sounds maps.

10. Click rebuild map and rename the build to bloodgulch(back up the original beforehand)
click replace and wait until its done, in my experience its bad to close the Eschaton window when rebuilding so just
walk away for awhile.

11. When its done close Eschaton and open HMT

12. In HMT open the new rebuilt Bloodgulch and find vehicles.

13. 1 in vehicles you SHOULD SEE h2 wraith.

14. There is two ways to put this in game

15. Replace another vehicle(the best choice in my opinion is ether scorpion or gun turret
or 2 change the tag name into scenery and replace a tree with it but do the above as its easier and this way is pretty advanced and would take to long.

Version 1 hope this helped out.

I would also like to say I figured this out on my own through many many hours of experimenting with .8.1.

Not bashing, but aside from the internalizing, it looks like a regular PMI tutorial. I'm glad it's this simple...I need to get me some CE stuff to PMI :)

yeah it is easy even the internalizing, but there will be errors with some stuff like the pick up icons and the placment of hud items which can be fixed some easyer than others.

thanks death-man was able to inject my first ce weapons from your tut, easy to follow B-)

oh BTW wat does internalising do? i didnt do that step.

I dunno, but i think youll find your weapons wont be there if you dont do it. You MUST do it. MUST. Its absolutely essential, if you dont do it the tags wont appear when you place them in the map.

my friends downloaded and installed the map and the sound and bitmaps are there for them . im sure i didnt internalise because i didnt know what it was so i didnt touch it.

Custom content in CE maps is usually internalized to begin with. The internalization step that you are prompted about is asking if you like to internalize any bitmaps and sounds that are added during the replacement step.

Hi, i am trying to convert a halo ce map to halo demo. I used HMVC to convert it to halo pc, and it said "Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeealy screwy error", and then it closed. Im trying to convert the halo full to halo demo, but if i can't even get it to halo full, i have a problem. Do i need to use hexedit or somthing? i was hoping there was a simpler way, scince im kind of new at map conversion. The map im trying to convert is extinction, if any of you can do it for me or tell me how to do it, that would be great.

I got a question

When I click recursively extract I get the message:

Warning: Indexed tags cannot be extracted
Indexed tags do not excist within map files. Select continue to extract without them. Select replace to use tags that do excist from other maps files.


What should I do?

And what does internalizing do exactly?
When internalizing, should I open the bloodgulch map when it asks to open a file?

HELL NO! you need to open bitmaps, then you need 2 open sounds.
