Am I the only one that noticed? I mean, it might be because they had more time to spend on them, seeing as how much less complex the gameplay is. Bungie should've let Ensemble do the cutscenes for Reach, IMO. Opinions?

I've also noticed that the models in Reach tend to blur when they move. I'm guessing this is one of the additions Bungie made to allow the engine handle so much more geometry.

the blur is due to "motion blur" to resemble real life when trying to focus on multiple things,...and yes..i do agree that ensemble should have done the cutscenes

The blur was intentional in reach to help with anti aliasing issues and for smoother movement.

The cutscenes in Halo Wars were prerendered, every Halo game by Bungie has REAL TIME cutscenes, meaning it is rendered at the time of you viewing it, using scripts and the like. Your argument is invalid.

Yeah, kva is right.

The cinematics in HW are just that, cinematics. Much higher quality, and much, much more expensive.

And from what I've played of Reach so far, the reach ones are more engaging than the wars ones were, while the wars ones were pretty shiny.

That's right, forgot about them being pre-recorded. Just can't get over how realistic they were.

Halo reach uses real-time cutscenes. Halo Wars uses CGI video made from a company called "Blur Studios".

If a Halo movie was to be made, then I believe blur studios should make it.

Bungie uses cutscenes made with the engine because they want players to feel like the story isn't changing and stuff. Or something.

Maybe... I think it would be worth it for them to have the cutscenes made the way halo wars's were. I mean those things are epic.

The following video has to be the most epic scene in all of halo. Aside from the amazing detail level, it's chock full of Spartan II's kicking ass! (After playing Reach so much, I'm tired of all this Spartan III stuff!): video.

Cutscenes rendered in game can be customized to each player, or randomized on the fly, and do not take up as much space, nor do they have to hire a whole outer team to make them. They are also visually similar to the game, and are not misleading.

Yeah I suppose it would be weird if you were playing the game and all of the sudden it was like 4 times as good graphics for a cutscene. The only reason it worked for Halo Wars is because you couldn't see the models very well the rest of the game.

real time drops fps a little right? Also reach is laggy as shit and should use pre recorded cutscenes imo.

This. Also wtf is up with the shitty fps drops in all Halo games, you think they would have made a game reliable on the console for which it is solely made... Actually my REAL question is why Halo isn't 60 fps yet. Fairly quickly 60 fps will be the standard for competitive next gen games (following suit to COD) why haven't they done it yet?

p.s. they're consoles, that's why they have FPS drop.

The eye can't really see a difference past 35-40FPS anyways, why would you need 60?

Because you can honestly tell the difference when playing, play Halo Reach then go and play Modern Warfare 2 and tell me which one feels smoother.
