Just because you smoke weed doesn't mean you'll want to try other drugs... I smoke frequently and I have never thought it would be a good idea to start doing anything else. None of my pothead friends have. It totally depends on the person. Its like saying that all women are shit drivers just because of the few women that do actually suck at driving.

EDIT: He describes marijuana as the "gateway" because it doesn't make him hurt at his brother's funeral and leads him to try other drugs that won't make him hurt. Replace marijuana with alcohol and you realize why that argument is retarded.
